Have you ever stopped to think about what’s really in your skincare or makeup?
Most conventional beauty products are filled with synthetic chemicals, fragrances, and preservatives that can sneakily affect more than just your skin—they can impact your hormones, stress your liver, and even trigger inflammation in your body.
That’s why more and more of us are turning to low-tox, cleaner beauty brands. These products aren’t just gentle on your skin—they’re kind to your whole body. From a holistic perspective, making the switch can:
Lighten your chemical load: Your liver will thank you, and your body can focus on natural detox rather than processing harsh chemicals.
Support hormone balance: Free from endocrine-disrupting ingredients, these products help keep your hormones steady and happy.
Reduce inflammation: Less irritation on the skin can ripple through the body, benefiting digestion, mood, and overall wellness.
Protect your gut and skin health: Cleaner ingredients mean a happier microbiome and a strong skin barrier.
Encourage a natural glow: When your skin isn’t constantly battling harsh chemicals, it can truly shine from the inside out.
Switching to cleaner beauty isn’t about perfection—it’s about small, everyday choices that support your body, your skin, and your overall wellbeing. And honestly, it just feels good to know what’s going on your skin is actually nourishing you.
I have my kit pretty dialed in but am still on the hunt for an eyebrow product!!
ILIA
If I had to sum up ILIA Beauty in one phrase, it would be: makeup that actually cares—for your skin, your values, and your everyday life. What makes ILIA really special is how it marries skincare and makeup. Their formulas don’t just sit on your face—they actively support it.
But ILIA isn’t just about what’s inside the tube—it’s about how it’s made. The brand leans into sustainability with recycled aluminum, glass packaging, and responsibly sourced materials. Beyond that, ILIA has always been transparent. Their “clean” isn’t just a label—it’s thoughtful: no parabens, no harsh synthetics, and a thoughtful balance of botanicals + safe lab-made ingredients.

Fullest Volumizing Mascara (I prefer this over the MERIT Mascaras)
The Ethereal Baked Face Palette (Recent purchase, I love this for colour!!)
KOSAS
If KOSAS were a person, she’d be that friend who’s equal parts scientist and artist — someone who cares deeply about your skin, but also knows how to make you look radiant.
KOSAS doesn’t just follow the bare-minimum clean standards — they go next-level. They’ve banned over 2,700 ingredients, including controversial ones like silicones, sulfates, phthalates, and more. Their formulas are dermatologist-tested and designed to be gentle. According to the brand: “high-performing, dermatologist-tested formulas are gentle for even the most sensitive skin.

NOURISHED & BEING
Literalllllly the holy grail of my skin care routine. There’s something deeply grounding about Nourished & Being — it’s the skincare brand I always come back to when I want to feel cared for, not just made up. What started as small-batch, hand-crafted balms and tallow whipped moisturizers has grown into something really special: a locally rooted, intentional ritual for self-care. Based in Chilliwack, BC — it feels nice knowing that I am also supporting local plus the owner is just an angel.
These two products are always in my kit:
